How Newborn Shoots Work

The entire family is welcome to join in your newborn photo session. I also travel to your home. There are no extra fees for these conveniences.

When: I like to take the newborn photos in the first 12 days after birth IF possible (sometimes it is not). This is the time that the baby is most sleepy and settled and also not as aware of their surroundings so you can pose them into position.

It is best to let me know you would like to book a newborn photo session as soon as you make the decision, as I do become heavily booked in upcoming months. I also ask that my clients pay the session fee in advance to secure their booking.

I do not book a specific day and time for newborns. Instead, I place your due date into my calendar, which lets me know that you will be having your baby around that time and I should allow some time for your special newborn photo session. As soon as you have had your baby you can let me know and then depending on your circumstances, we can arrange the day and time to take your photos.

What to wear? Keep it simple. Go through my page. If you liek family shots on white background then wear pastel. If you like the black background shots wear something dark. And if you are comfortable enough see how beautiful the skin to skin shots are (dad shirtless and mum wearing a boob tube). The natural look is my personal favourite.

Where: In most cases if you are within a reasonable distance, I can come to your house to take the photos as well to make everything that little bit easier for you.

Preparation on the day:
Its an exciting time! You have had your beautiful baby and now its time to capture those early moments. So here is how it works.By now you have paid your deposit and contacted me to let me know that your baby has been born and we have scheduled your photo session. :-)There are a few basic things I ask all parents to do to prepare. On the day.

1. Choose the room with the most light in your house (Preferably the lounge room). A room with a big glass sliding door, or lots of windows is best.

2. Turn the heating onto HOT. This room needs to be around 27+ degrees by the time arrive. Yes you and I will be sweaty but this means its PERFECT for your soon to be nudie newborn.

3. Feed your baby as much as possible in the hour or so before our scheduled session.

4. Have baby undressed (Wrapped in blankets if necessary) just leaving the nappy on. Once I arrive, I will set up a mini studio and do the rest. :-)

P.S. Do NOT worry about cleaning or getting dressed for me! I am a mother of 3 small children and I can assure you that my house is messy and I understand!!!!
